Belfast Fashion Week SS19 Press Launch

Hey Everyone,

I was lucky enough to be invited to the press launch of Belfast Fashion Week for their 27th season! It was held in Panama cafe which is super edgy and cool and hidden away in the center of Belfast so really the perfect location and I can’t wait to head back for food sometime!

The best thing about Belfast Fashion Week is that it’s for the upcoming season instead of a few seasons ahead, it means not only do I know what trends to invest in but I can also buy any of the pieces I love on the day! The main question is, what are the key trends for SS19?!

Beige/Nude/Neutral

This trend is mainly about the silhouette created and is more sophisticated than other upcoming trends but still accessible to everyone!

I can’t wait to try this trend! I love my monochrome looks but this could be a well-needed update to my wardrobe without stepping out of my comfort zone!

Texture

This includes everything from lace and frills to patchwork and corduroy and everything in between! This is a great trend and you can really make it your own and you don’t need to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe just a few key pieces! This is also an easy trend to mix with others as it adds interest without being overpowering!

For me, this is a trend I’ll be following, for example, a lace top under my favourite dress and a pair of studded ankle boot (trying to channel my inner Holly Willoughby during I’m a Celeb).

Animal Print

This trend has been updated from last year where it was all about leopard print now we’re going for snake, zebra, giraffe and any other animal print you can think of! Along with an update in prints different colours are also on the market, which adds even more interest to the look!

This year I’ll be opting for more colour with my animal print and some interesting prints too! ASOS and Topshop are my go-to for this trend!

Suits/Co-Ords

This trend is back again but we’re updating it with clashing colours and a more casual feel by wearing Dino stompers! Yep, dad trainers are staying!

I love how corduroy looks in this trend and how the shapes are more interesting, trousers with a front split, flares and midi skirts are what I’ll be looking for this year!

Boiler Suits

This is the SS19 version of the jumpsuit but honestly, it’s not a trend I’m buying into! This trend is a one for all, pair it with heels for night and trainers for the morning after! Who knows maybe by summer I’ll love it too!

Neon

While I love the look of this trend I can honestly say it terrifies me! I love monochrome and this is the exact opposite so it might take me a bit of time to warm up to it!

I’m going to try by slowing incorporating pops of neon into my everyday looks and see how it goes from there!
