Am I the only one who has been struggling with motivation recently? There is so much I had planned to do and honestly, I’m struggling to do any of it! This really isn’t like me, I’m that girl with 101 to-do lists and usually, I find nothing more satisfying than ticking something off that list! But for the first quarter of 2018, the struggle has been real!
Today’s post is a compilation of goals I have for 2018 and how I’m going to motivate myself to achieve them! I’m hoping that by laying out a plan this will really help me see how achievable my goals are, and if you’re feeling a little demotivated like me, then hopefully this post will help you find your motivation too!
The Big Ones…
Go fully self-hosted (APRIL 2018)
Any non-bloggers will most likely have no clue what I mean, but this is an important step to take if I want my blog to become a business (which I do!). I’ve done a lot of research on this, and I’ve asked loads of my blogger buddies for help and advice but ultimately I’m too scared to bite the bullet and I keep putting it off! I’ve given myself the deadline of April to talk myself into this, there isn’t a lot of work involved but it’s just a big step that I’m afraid to make… If you’ve gone self-hosted please leave me your tips on how you bite the bullet!
Lose Pre-Christmas Weight (JUNE 2018)
Now with a deadline of June, I’m really not expecting a miracle, I’m really just aiming to lose the weight that I’ve gained over Christmas. I’ll be the first to admit that I carry too much weight and I’m very aware of all the illnesses that come along with this, having a family history of diabetes and cancer has really made me more aware of the impact I have on my health in the long term. I’m going to estimate since around November I have gained almost a stone in weight and this needs to be gone! I have a girls holiday in June and I’m already worried and feeling self-conscious about it, so I’m hoping if I’m able to lose a few lbs then my confidence will begin to rise again!
Increase my Makeup Training and Skills (JULY 2018)
I really want to increase my skills within makeup, I’d love to do another course and do some Artist-to-Artist training – preferably with Amanda Wilson or Aine Knocker! Really the only reason I haven’t done this yet is because I’m lazy! I would also love to do another course in something like Eyelash Extensions or Lash Lifts (LVL), I think this would really help to improve my business and I would also love to learn these techniques! I’ve given myself the deadline of July to help motivated me, as I’d love to do this and to be frank the earlier I learn these techniques the longer I have to perfect them!
Enjoy Training Again (AUGUST 2018)
For me this is a different point than just losing weight, I find it important to actually enjoy training – for me when I enjoy what I’m doing I am able to push myself and this is where I lose more weight. At the minute I’m really enjoying weight training, but I need to get back into cardio as this will really help me with the previous point haha! I’ve given myself the target of August to get into a good swing, I know it seems very far away but I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things and really set up a good routine that I’m happy with and can work with come August!
Start Saving More (NOVEMBER 2018)
This may seem like an eternity away but in reality it’ll be here before we know it! My aim is to start small and really build this up. I only have a part time job so I really don’t have too much disposable income, so for me saving £50 a month is achievable and something I really need to do! I think it’s good to have some money set aside for any larger things I might want to treat myself too!
The Little Ones…
Pre-film and edit videos (Weekly)
This is something I really want to get on top of, I hate the feeling of having to rush a video because I don’t have any ready to go! I currently upload twice a week so the goal would be to film twice a week, that way I’m always at least a week ahead of myself! Please leave me some ideas for videos you’d like to see!
Track my calorie intake (Daily)
I love to use My Fitness Pal to track my calorie intake, I’m normally not too strict on myself but Monday – Friday I try to keep on top of it and within my calorie boundaries. Afterall there is no point in working hard in the gym if I’m going to ruin it all by eating everything I see!
Step it Up (Daily)
I’ve really been neglecting my FitBit and haven’t been working on my steps the way I should be, so I’m going to reset my mindset and try and achieve my daily step goal! This is a pretty easy goal in reality, but it’s just finding that movitation to go out and achieve the steps that I struggle with. Hopefully with the better weather I’ll be able to find the motivation to go out a bit more!
Top Tips to Boost Motivation
Building motivation can be tough so here’s a few of my favourite tips to boost my motivation and help me achieve my goals!
- Write it all down
- Break up large goals into more achieve smaller goals
- Give yourself manageable time limits
- Set realistic goals
- Find someone to share your goals with, for example if it’s a fitness goal then get a gym buddie or if its a blogging goal share it with your blogging buddies!
