West Coast Cooler Belfast Fashion Week SS18 Press Launch

Hey Everyone,

I was very excited to receive my invite to Belfast Fashion Week SS18 Press Launch, it’s always exciting getting to see the new fashion trends and can also come in super handy when doing a little shopping afterwards! The launch was held in Ormeau Baths, this location had quite an industrial feel with the hard wood floors and grey walls, this was such a contrast to the girly vibe we saw on the cat walk!

Top Trends

There were a few trends that stuck out for me, and honestly I loved them all and I can definitely picture myself wearing them in the future. Not to mention I’ve already ordered a lot of similar pieces off ASOS!

Pinks

This was a key colour on the catwalk, from more nude pink shades to the brighter fuchsia shades. Personally I prefer the paler tones, I find them to be more flattering but who doesn’t love a pop of bright pink in their wardrobe! I definitely noticed that red was still a key tone, but instead of being worn alone it was often clashed with pink, definitely a look for the bold.

Purples

With Ultraviolet being the Pantone colour of the year, purple was never going to be far away from the catwalks so it was interesting to see a whole array of shades and textures adding interest to each look. Here are some of my new favourite ways to wear purple…

I’m obsessed with the lilac ripped jeans and the feather jacket! These will definitely makes the transition from A/W into S/S a fabulous one!

Greens

Another key colour this year is green, especially the more deep emerald type shades. This rich tone really made an impact on the catwalk and is such a fresh and gorgeous shade for spring and summer! These were my absolute favourite looks in the green category, the bold stripe suit is possibly my favourite outfit of the whole show! I love how the flared trousers would really flatter so many people!

Stripes

Praise the fashion gods because vertical stripes are in! Everyone knows that horizontal stripes can often be so unflattering on anyone with a little shape, whereas vertical stripes are everyones friend. I particularly love vertical stipe trousers are they really elongate and flatter your shape!

Spots

I don’t mean to sound like Cruella De Vil but I see spots! I love spots, mainly because they are often monochrome (which you all know I prefer) but also because they add so much interest to a simple outfit, wear it bold with spots on spots or keep it classy with a simple cami and some spotty trousers!

This will be the 25th Season of Belfast Fashion Week and once again, girl boss Cathy Martin has pulled out all the stops and kicked off BFW with a bang! I’m so excited to celebrate this season, it all kicks off March 22nd so make sure you get your tickets quick by heading to www.belfastfashionweek.com!
