If theres one look everyone needs in their bag of tricks its a classic smokey eye. I created this one with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette, these shadows have such great pigmentation that I’m literally obsessed with them!! I’ve also created a pink smokey eye if you’re interested in reading that after!
To start I blended Burnt Orange through my crease, I wanted a warm transition colour to help blend the warm browns I used after. I packed on quite a few layers of this colour to help build up intensity! I then went in with Red Ochre, this again is acting like a transition colour. For a smokey eye I find it’s easier to slowly build up the intensity of the shades, so although these two colours aren’t immediately noticeable on the eyes, they’re still necessary for a well blended smokey eye!
To add some depth and darkness to the look I took Cyprus Umber on a large fluffy blending brush and focussed this through the crease, blending out any harsh edges with the transition shades. On a small blending brush I blended Love Letter though the crease to get a hint of pink, be careful when doing this step as if you add too much pink it can end up looking a little like a bruise!
Recently I’ve been obsessed with using concealer to carve out the inner third of my lid, I find this helps to give the shadow extra impact and that way I don’t have to be super precise with my blending! I used Tempera to set the concealer and then applied Primavera over this with a damp brush, and then I used the shade Warm Taupe to help blend these edges.
I wanted to darken the outer edges a little more so I used a small amount of black shadow only in the outer V, I also took this shade along my lashline to help make my lashes look thicker and to disguise the lashes.
At this stage I applied my foundation, I used the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation in Light Porcelain, I used the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla under my eyes and for an blemishes. I set this with the MAC Mineralise Skin Finish Natural in Light. For my contour I used Medium Chocolate from the Too Faced Cocoa Contour Palette, I wanted a nice rosy colour for the cheeks so I used the Too Faced Love Flush blush in Love Hangover and for my highlight I went with The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer! I wanted quite a natural fluffy brow so I used Soap and Glory’s Brow Archery in Hot Chocolate and L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper in Medium/Dark.
To finish the eyes I first tight lined with a black eye pencil, however on the inner third of the lower lashline I used a nude pencil to avoid making my eyes look smaller. I then took a mixture of Burnt Orange, Red Ochre and Cyprus Umber on the outer two thirds of the lower lash line and used the shade Primavera on the inner third. After making sure the lower lashline is nice and smokey I used MAC Extended Play mascara and applied some falsies. These are the Eylure Party Perfect Texture lash! To highlight my inner corner and brow bone I used the shade Vermeer, this is such a stunning highlight colour!!
For my lips I used the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk liner, I over lined my lips slightly for a fuller look! I also used the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick and I’m in love with this combo!
I really love how this look turned out! It is such a classic look that will always come in handy and works for everything!
Hope to see you around,
