Festive Dramatic Smokey Eye

Hey Everyone!

With Christmas right around the corner and New Years Eve next week I thought I’d create this dramatic smokey eye and bright red lip to see you through the party season and into 2017!

To start with I used the Smashbox Photo Finish Colour Correcting Adjust Primer to neutralise the redness in my skin, I then filled in my brows using Soap and Glory Brow Archery and set them using Benefit Gimmie Brow. I like to do my brows first when doing a dramatic look as I feel it helps balance out my face!

To start the eyes I used the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette and took the shade Tempted to blend through the crease as a transition shade, I deepened this using the shade Faith. To add extra dimension and depth to the look I used the shade Magnet from this palette before blending through the shade Blackjack for added darkness. I continually blended all four shades until I got the desired level of depth.

For a somewhat cut crease effect I used the Makeup Obsession Strobe Balm in the shade Chrome all over my lid before setting this with the silver shade from the Maybelline the Rock Nudes Palette. Both these shades are very pigmented so it helped the eyes to really pop in this look. I then went back in with Magnet and Blackjack to blend the silver shades and diffuse any harsh lines.

At this stage I decided to go onto foundation, I used NARS Sheer Glow in the shade Mont Blanc mixed with one pump of Punjab to warm up the skin. I applied NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Vanilla in a triangle under my eye to conceal and brighten! I set this with the Makeup Forever HD Powder and used MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in the shade Light to set the rest of my face. To highlight I used the the Balms Mary Lou-Manizer and I used Too Faced Chocolate Soleil in Dark Chocolate to Contour. For my cheeks I wanted a little warmth without them competing with the dramatic eye look and dark lips so I opted for MACs Harmony blush.

To finish the eyes I applied L’Oreal Super Liner Perfect Slim eyeliner and I used the Urban Decay 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil in the shade Legend on my waterline and tightline, I then smudged this out using the shades Magnet and Blackjack from the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette, I then took the shade Limited from this palette to soften the lines around my crease and on the lower lashline too.

For an inner corner highlight I used a silver Cynthia Rowley eye pencil and for a brow bone highlight I used Blow from the Urban Decay Ultimate Naked Basics palette. I then applied lots of mascara, using Benefit They’re Real, Benefit Roller Lash and MAC Extended Play Mascara, but I think this look would be amazing with a dramatic pair of false lashes!

To finish the look I opted for a bright red lip, I used a Maybelline Lip Liner in the shade Please me Red followed by the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in the shade Cruella, which is a wonderful vibrant red that works perfectly for Christmas!

I don’t often go for a bold eye and lip but I really love how it works for this look and if you’re not feeling the bold lip a nude work go really well as well!

Hope to see you around,

Love,

Charlotte xx
