MAC Amber Times Nine Look

Hey Everyone!

On Friday I posted a review of the MAC Amber times Nine palette, here. There are a some nice colours in this palette, which all work really well together but the pigmentation isn’t great in these shadows, definitely not the usual MAC standard! Despite that I was still able to recreate a really lovely look and I find the palette really easy to use because of all the neutral shades!

As I’m sick at the moment I opted for a more full coverage base. I used the NARS Sheer Glow foundation, in the shade Punjab. This is still a little too light for me as I still have a tan from my recent holiday so I used Soleil Tan De Chanel around the outer edges of my face to look more bronzed. To conceal my dark circles I used the NARS Creamy Concealer in the shade Vanilla and then set my face with MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural.

To add some colour to my face I bronzed and contoured with the Tarte Park Ave Princess bronzer and used the Too Faced love flush blush in the shade Love Hangover, to add some much needed colour to my face! To highlight the high points of my face I used MAC Mineralise Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle. For my brows I went for the Soap and Glory Brow Archery in Hot Chocolate and set using Benefit Gimme Brow!

Because these shades aren’t very pigmented I decided to use a primer with the MAC paint pot in the shade Chilled on Ice! This is a lovely sparkly base with a golden hint to it!

I began by applying Cork to my crease, this helped to blend out the paint pot I  had applied and worked well as a transition colour for the darker shades I applied later. I continued to apply and blend this shade to work up the intensity to a colour I was satisfied with.

I then went in with Aromatic, another matte brown shade, and continue to darken and blend out the crease. I also worked this colour into my outer V and lower lash line for a smokey look. I then applied Kitties to my lid, to brighten the look.

I kept reapplying Kitties and Aromatic to get a more intense look, making sure to blend out any harsh lines with the lighter shade Cork. I then used Aromatic to line my top lash line, as close to my lashes as possible to make my lashes look thick and voluminous.

I applied black waterproof liner to my inner rim and water line, I like how this helps a simple look more smokey and evening appropriate. I then applied Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara and Benefit Roller Lash.

For an inner corner and brow bone highlight I used Ricepaper, but I felt this wasn’t showing up enough so I went over the inner corner with the shade Kitties. I also decided to deepen the lower lash line with the shade Pepper, Please.

Overall I really like how this eye look came out, it was more intense in person but you can still see that there was some depth to the colours.

I finally got round to using my Kylie Lip Kit in Exposed, it is a lovely warm beige. I used both the lip pencil and the liquid lipstick and I really liked the finish. I will hopefully have a full review of this done for next week!

Overall I was really satisfied with the whole look and I love how it came out. I will say that this is not a look unique to this palette and I was able to create a similar look with other cheaper palettes that I have!

Hope to see you around,
