With Spring having officially started, I thought that this was the perfect time to share my tips on how to transform your wardrobe from winter into spring! And everyone knows a new season is the perfect excuse to get some lovely new additions to your wardrobe! I feel the transition from winter to spring is the best one, especially clothes-wise! I love seeing all the new patterns and much brighter colours out in the shops and as I work in retail it’s hard not to be tempted by them! This post is basically a composite of some of my favourite items from some of my favourite retailers (I’m not going to lie, I work in New Look so I might be a little biased here). I have a feeling this one’s going to be a long one, so sit back and enjoy all the pretty clothes!
One of the recurring trends for spring is always patterns, especially florals! I find that they just add a pop of colour to your outfit and are the perfect pattern for any girlie girl! Here are some of my favourites:
The first one is a black floral pinafore, from New Look at £17.99, and the second is a navy floral dress, also from New Look at £19.99. I think that both of these are really cute and would be a great addition to any wardrobe! I have both of these items and I like to wear the playsuit, with a plain white top, black tights and a pair of black boots. The navy dress is quickly becoming one of my favourite items, I wear it with tan boots and a grey cardigan!
Block colours always look amazing in the warmer months, and one of the new hit colours of this season is a beautiful bright yellow. While yellow may not be everyones cup of tea, I would recommend trying it in some alternative ways, accessories are always a good choice to incorporate a new colour or style into your wardrobe. Here are some bold pieces for spring:
Both of these pieces are from River Island, the top is £32 I would suggest pairing it with ankle grazers and a casual pair of black loafers, I feel this top just helps to add a pop of colour to your look. The skirt is £35, they also have a matching top, both items would look amazing together or separate and really help to brighten any look!
One trend 90s trend that has had a revival this season is the slip dress. We’ve all seen those pictures of Kate Moss in the see through dress circa 1993, but I feel for this look you need a little more sophistication, so maybe channel you’re inner Gwyneth Paltrow or Jennifer Anniston instead! Although I haven’t quite got round to trying this trend yet, here are a few I’ve been tempted by:
The first, is a navy dress from ASOS and is £70, in my opinion, this one is much dressier than the red dress, I think it would be perfect with a pair of strappy black sandals. The red dress is also from ASOS and is £15, as this one is more casual I feel it would work well with a black leather jacket and a pair of flatforms.
Denim is becoming a huge trend right now, it’s everywhere from dungarees to dresses and even shoes! I find denim pieces are just so easy to wear and hey who doesn’t secretly love a bit of denim on denim (Canadian suit anyone?) so here are some of my favourite denim pieces that would be perfect to wear the whole way though spring:
The first is a denim smock dress from ASOS at £35, I think this dress is the sweetest thing! I can just picture it with bare legs, a floral scarf and a pair of tan boots then to transition it into summer a pair of flat sandals. The second is a denim shirt, also from ASOS at £32. I really like how this shirt has cut out shoulders, I’m really enjoying the cold shoulder trend, I find it can be quite sexy but still conservative enough for a family lunch.
Now for everyones guilty pleasure – shoes! Is it just me or does anyone else find the transition from winter boot into spring pump/sandal just a little too satisfying? Don’t get me wrong, I love a good boot, but after wearing them almost nonstop since September, I do love to slip into a little loafer or sandal. Within the world of footwear there’s been two real trends, the midi block heel or the round toe shoe. Honestly I have to say my favourite is the midi block heel, I just don’t feel I have the style to pull off round toe shoes! Regardless here are some of the shoe’s I’ve been swooning over recently.
First for the round toes! The pink pair come from ASOS and are £35! I think they are beautiful and would be perfect to transition from spring into summer, the black ones are from Topshop at £62. I think that both pairs are great from casual wear or for dressing up and would look great with any outfit!
And now for my favourite, the midi heel. The first pair are from New Look, these strappy gladiator style sandals are £34.99 and would be great to wear out to dinner on a warm night! The pink sandals are literally the shoes I’ve been dreaming of! They are from ASOS and are £45 and would look amazing with a denim skirt and a white shirt!
Well that was a long one! I hope you enjoyed this instalment and it didn’t cause too much damage to your bank account! Let me know some of your key pieces for spring! Thanks for visiting.
Hope to see you around,
